KRONOTERM, together with the Technical University of Turin (Italy), is developing an innovative project to harness geothermal energy in the underground by using a geoprobe heat pump in the tubes of the underground tunnels.
The project aims to study the use of geothermal energy sources in large urban areas, which are increasingly resorting to the use of the underground for the construction of infrastructure. The main objective is to design a technological system capable of transforming the reinforced concrete lining of a tunnel into a heat exchanger, which will be able to extract heat in a sub-circuit with a heat pump.
