In an older residential house with radiator heating, the owners faced common problems: high heating costs, frequent maintenance, and the need to run the boiler even in summer to prepare domestic hot water. They wanted a system that would not require major modifications and would operate automatically without daily supervision.
The system also operates efficiently at higher temperatures, so there was no need to replace the radiators. A KRONOTERM ADAPT heat pump with an indoor unit HYDRO C2 was installed, enabling water heating up to 65 °C, ideal for existing radiators. This avoided replacing heating elements or renovating the piping. The system includes two heating circuits, allowing different settings and separate control in various parts of the house, as well as a domestic hot-water tank capable of providing up to 300 litres of hot water.
The system operates completely automatically – without daily adjustments or manual switching between heating and hot-water modes. The user set the room temperature to 22 °C and the domestic hot water to 50 °C. If preferences change or heating schedules need to be adjusted, this can be done remotely via smartphone or computer. Remote access allows performance monitoring, quick adjustments, and even technical assistance without a service visit. The system is easy to use and always within reach.
The ADAPT heat pump can reach high flow-water temperatures, making it suitable for renovations where underfloor heating cannot be installed. In this case, it enabled a transition to energy-efficient heating without major construction work, while maintaining the existing radiator system.
