JOINERY WORKSHOP PUSHES THE LIMITS OF INDUSTRIAL HEATING WITH ADAPT MAX

In a joinery workshop in Dublin, heat powers the daily production process. To keep operations running smoothly, they needed a heating solution capable of reaching high temperatures while remaining quiet enough for the nearby residential neighbourhood. The existing gas system could no longer meet these demands—so ADAPT MAX stepped in, a solution built precisely for challenges like this.

In Ballyfermot Industrial Estate in Dublin stands one of the city’s largest facilities for manufacturing wooden doors and windows. This is a site with substantial heat demand: ceiling-mounted radiant panels in the workshop, radiators in the offices and canteen, and domestic hot water preparation were for years powered by two 350-kW gas boilers that were becoming increasingly inefficient. With required temperatures up to 65 °C, the owners needed a system that could deliver reliable heat even on the coldest days—while keeping noise extremely low due to the neighbouring homes.

A complex heating system brings a range of challenges

In a workshop running continuous production, heat is essential. The ceiling-mounted radiant panels and the heating of the large hall require a constant 65 °C, which immediately excludes most standard heat pumps. At such temperatures, typical units quickly reach their limits, particularly in industrial environments where the system must operate efficiently throughout the entire heating season.

Beyond the high temperature requirements, the system also had to be exceptionally quiet, as the facility sits directly beside residential houses. Multiple heat consumers—from the workshop to offices, the canteen and hot water—also required precise control and reliable performance in all operating modes.

The solution: three ADAPT MAX heat pumps in a powerful cascade

After a technical review, the optimal solution proved to be a configuration of three high-temperature ADAPT MAX units, each delivering 70 kW. Operating in cascade, they supply the existing distribution system feeding the radiant ceiling panels, radiators and domestic hot water preparation.

ADAPT MAX delivered exactly what the workshop had been missing for years—high temperatures with high efficiency and exceptionally quiet operation, a rare combination in industrial settings. The modular design allowed easy installation in the limited outdoor area, while advanced control ensures that all three units operate in harmony, perfectly matching the workshop’s real demand with optimal energy use.

A solution that enables industry to take a sustainable step forward

The DCC Ballyfermot Joinery Workshop is now equipped with a modern heating system that meets two key needs: consistently high temperature and quiet, stable performance. The project clearly demonstrates that even demanding industrial environments can successfully transition to sustainable technologies when the chosen solution is powerful, adaptable and intelligently implemented.

Industrial sites equipped with ADAPT MAX often achieve 40–50% savings. Get in touch to see what we can achieve for your project.
