On 17 and 18 June 2025, representatives of KRONOTERM attended the 9th International Congress on Commercial and Industrial Heat Pumps in Nuremberg. The event, jointly organised by Bundesverband Wärmepumpe, FWS (Switzerland) and WP Austria, is considered the leading professional meeting for large heat pumps in Europe.
The congress, held in the industrial setting of the former Ofenwerk, brought together over 270 experts in person, with an additional 100 virtual participants joining remotely. In addition to engaging presentations and expert discussions, particular emphasis was placed on excursions to successful real-life projects, including the heating system at Berthold-Brecht-Schule, solutions at UmweltBank AG and the geothermal system of Rödl & Partner.
Large heat pumps are ready – now is the time for action
The key message of the congress was clear and united: the technology is ready, but courage and clear political support are needed for large heat pumps to become the cornerstone of decarbonising heating systems in Europe. Discussions focused on the challenges of slow administrative processes, inconsistent funding conditions and the urgent need to simplify legislation to achieve climate neutrality targets.
